Homecoming games vs. Green Bay Gamblers Dec 29 & 30

Drew Schock was a sophomore at Green Bay Notre Dame last season. He played a pivotal role on a Notre Dame team that finished with a 28-0 record and the 2023 WIAA D-1 state championship. Schock was awarded Wisconsin Prep Hockey’s Jake McCabe award as the state’s best defenseman, he was named WHCA first team all-state, and selected Player of the Year for the Fox River Classic Conference.

The scouts took notice. Drew Schock was selected to play this season for USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program (NTDP). NTDP, located in Plymouth, Michigan, is a program created by USA Hockey in 1996 for the specific purpose of providing advanced player development for the top 11th grade and 12th grade prospects in the United States. NTDP 17 is a team with primarily 11th grade players and NTDP 18 is 12th grade players. usahockeyntdp.com

Let’s catch-up with Drew Schock!

How has the NTDP experience been? The experience has been unbelievable. Every day I learn something new, whether it is on ice, in the classroom or in the weight room.

What does your typical day look like? In the morning I wake up and go to the rink to our classroom for online school. After school, we have a team meeting and then warm-up and skate. The skate lasts two or two one-half hours, then we workout for sixty to ninety minutes. The workout is the final part of the day and a lot of the guys live close to the rink so we hangout or get food.

You have taken two international trips. How were the trips and are there any differences in the international games? The international trips have been an unbelievable experience on and off the ice. Getting to travel to different places is super cool. The ice surfaces are bigger in Europe so there’s more time and space, which changes the game a little bit, but not dramatically.

Congratulations on your commitment to University of Michigan. What sold you on Michigan, and what other schools were you seriously considering? Thank you! When talking with the coaching staff and visiting Michigan it felt like home. It is somewhere I think I can thrive on ice and academically. On top of that I was very comfortable with the coaching staff and felt I could grow with their guidance. There were many schools interested and it was not an easy decision. My final decision came between Michigan, Denver and Notre Dame.

How do you feel about coming home to play the Green Bay Gamblers on December 29 & 30? It is unbelievable. I have watched countless Gamblers games and was a big fan when I was younger. Coming back home and playing at Resch will be unreal and a dream come true. I can’t wait!
