Lester, Fadness, and Herzog each score a pair in win

During the drive to the rink for the game between her Point-Rapids Red Panthers and the Eau Claire-Altoona Stars, the car that goalie Emily Bubla was riding in got stuck at a railroad crossing for 15 minutes while waiting for a 200-car coal train to pass.

If that wasn't bad enough, Bubla later noticed that the car's odometer clicked over to 66,666.6 while driving on Highway 66. She wondered if things could get worse...

They did, as the Stars scored three goals in a span of 2:17 midway through the first period and never looked back as they upended host Point-Rapids 7-0 on a chilly Thursday evening at the K.B. Willett Arena in Stevens Point.

Shots were even at five apiece early in the game, but then the Stars got their legs under them and took advantage of a couple turnovers and put a quick "3" on the board.

Emily Lester grabbed a loose puck along the right boards and skated toward the net, and then sniped a shot from the low right circle that beat Bubla for a 1-0 lead at the 7:22 mark.

The score became 2-0 just over a minute later when Camille Herzog roared down the left side and scored from the left dot at 8:49.

Fifty seconds later, Lester tallied her second goal of the contest when she stole the puck from a Red Panther defenseman and beat Bubla from the low left side to make it 3-0 at the 9:39 mark.

The period ended with that three-goal lead and the Stars outshooting the home team by a margin of 16-5.

Early in the second period, Haley Watkins grabbed a rebound and spanked it into the net at the 3:58 mark of the period--with the assist going to Macki Fadness--to make it 4-0.

A short while later, with the teams playing 4-on-4, Fadness scored to make it 5-0. The assist went to Watkins at 6:10.

Fadness scored her second goal just over five minutes later when she stole the puck behind the net, and snuck a shot between the post and the goalie's left skate to send the game to "run time." Lester received a helper on the play.

The visitors held a 12-2 shot edge during the second stanza.

The third period flowed quickly, as the clock did not stop until there was 2:26 left when Herzog scored her second goal as her shot from the left dot found the back of the net to complete the scoring.

While it was fairly quiet at her end of the ice, Stars goalie Jordyn Bunce still stopped 12 pucks for her second shutout of the year. Bubla had 31 saves for the Red Panthers.
