Hanna's Nomination

The St. Croix Valley Fusion coaching staff is proud to nominate Baldwin-Woodville senior Hanna Zevenbergen for the Miss Hockey Award.

On the ice, Hanna has been an impact player immediately as a freshman and has been one of four defensemen for all four years. As a team captain, she displays her leadership both in play and in the locker room. Hanna has been a consistent offensive contributor and a key part of the power play, who takes great pride in creating scoring opportunities and playing quality defense. She has been recognized with All Conference honors for the past three seasons. Hanna was a key contributor in leading the Fusion to the State Tournament in her sophomore season and in three Conference Championships.

In addition to her love for hockey, Hanna is a three sport athlete who has received 11 varsity letters. As the captain, she has led her tennis team to the WIAA Team State Tournament for the last two years and qualified four times individually in doubles, with a 4th place finish, at the WIAA Individual State Tournament - her senior year. Hanna was also instrumental in leading her softball team in two Conference Championships and two Sectional Championship games in which she received softball All Conference honors.

In the classroom, Hanna maintains a 3.99 GPA and ranks 4th in her class all while taking challenging courses. She has been a member of the National Honor Society for the past two years and has received the Academic Incentive Award for four years. Her leadership positions include Student Council treasurer, President of the Spanish Club, first chair trumpet and brass sectional leader for the B-W band, Link Crew leader- which mentors incoming freshman, and SOS- Students Offering Support. Hanna also just won Baldwin-Woodville’s Scholar/Athlete award.

In the community, Hanna volunteers for many service events such as Special Olympics, Bridge for Adults with Disabilities in Hudson, Feed My Starving Children, Mayo Clinic Women’s Health Greeter in Eau Claire, River Falls Lions Club special events, Bowl for Souls, Red Cross Blood Drive and church mission trips. In these events, her trustworthiness and determination have been beyond helpful. She has a take charge, hands on approach in all phases of volunteering from assisting special needs athletes to fundraising. In addition to volunteering, Hanna works a part-time job at Walgreens, referees youth hockey, and assists her tennis coach teaching youth tennis.

Hanna is a mentally strong, goal-oriented, driven young lady. It has been a pleasure to be her coach and watch her grow as an athlete and as an individual. Hanna’s dedication to sports, academic achievements, school/community involvement, and positive leadership make her a great candidate for Miss Hockey. I highly recommend your consideration in choosing Hanna Zevenbergen.
